Take a breather.

My friend, Sri, got some of us to attend the Millennia Institute’s Angklung Kulingtang Ensemble yesterday night. We were there because we want to watch her perform with all those bamboo musical instruments. We were a little late for the concert but was allowed entrance.

Alright, if you don’t know what Angklung (look at the Souvenir above!) and Kulingtang are, no worries, I video down two musical pieces and I will post it in my weblog soon. Promise.

After the orchestra delivered a couple of musical pieces after we arrived, the emcee announced that it is time for a “breather” — a little toilet break and in the mean time, get some hands-on with Angklung. And the announcement was the funniest yet. Ever.

“Okay. We are now going to take a breather before we continue. During this time, you may also come down and try and play the Angklung! The gentlemen are over my left and the ladies are over my right. Also, it is also directly below you.”

HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. All audiences broke out into laughter. Including me. How can he make such a stupid blunder? I could have shouted, “So, we are allowed to take a leak on the carpet?” if I wasn’t so consumed with laughter.

“No… No… I mean, directly one level below this.”

HAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. We continued laughing our butts off and then apparently, he got so embarrassed that he just stopped talking and disappeared behind the stage’s curtains.

That was really a breather, I thought.

“Anyway, on the way to the concert and on the way back, we had such a laugh in buses that I literally teared. And I think the primary school girl in the bus was traumatized by us — we kept talking to her, and we don’t know who she is.”
